To minimise wait times, consignees are urged to pay port charges online at www.barbadosport.com before coming to the Port.
Owners of trailers/containers parked on lands in the following locations are asked to remove their property by Friday November 15, 2025:
- The roadway between Sugar Store Road and University Row (leading from the Port of Bridgetown’s Cargo Gate to the North Gate)
- Barbados Port Inc. lands adjacent to the Mighty Grynner Highway
- The roadway from the Mighty Grynner Highway leading to the Barbados Coast Guard and ADM Mills
Trailers/containers in these locations present both safety and security concerns.
Barbados Port Inc. will suspend Port access to companies failing to comply with this directive. The suspension will be for an initial five working days, which may be extended until the trailers/containers have been removed.
You are further advised to desist from the practice of parking trailers/containers in the reserved spaces outlined above, as well as any other unauthorized spaces.

We’ve introduced a new Pre-Payment Facility for commercial cargo customers.
It is designed specifically for the settlement of commercial cargo charges including FAS, RS&D, storage and related services.
The prepayment option allows customers to deposit funds to their accounts, from which payments can be automatically processed. The amount, deposited in advance, is entirely at the customer’s discretion.

Divisional Manager, Innovation & Corporate Services, Barbados Port Inc.
Capt. Karl Branch is a certified Artificial Intelligence Risk Management Architect under the US National Institute of Standards and Technology. He holds the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) cybersecurity designation and the Certified Port Executive designation.
He retired as head of the Military Intelligence Unit and was awarded the Barbados Defence Board Commendation for performance in Intelligence.
Karl represents the Chairmanship of the Technical Advisory Group to the Inter-American Executive Committee on Ports, and he is also the Chairman of the Stakeholder Steering Committee for the development of the innovative Barbados Port Community System.
Karl has presented internationally, including at the World Smart Developing Ports Conference, Rotterdam, on the topic of artificial intelligence, and he has been instrumental in the deployment of artificial intelligence in surveillance monitoring systems in use at the Port of Bridgetown. This system is the most advanced surveillance system deployed in Barbados at present.

MR. ROMMEL EDWARDS
Manager, Digital Innovation and Development, Barbados Port Inc.
Mr. Rommel Edwards is the Manager of the Digital Innovation and Development Department at Barbados Port Inc. (BPI). With over 25 years at BPI, he has led the development of multiple software solutions, streamlining port operations and trade facilitation.
His key achievements include integrating Customs ASYCUDA World with BPI’s systems, implementing BPI’s first cloud-based terminal operating system, and launching BPI’s first online payment platform.
Under his leadership, BPI has earned multiple awards for innovation and technology. His department manages critical digital initiatives, including Barbados’ Port Community System and the Barbados Maritime Single Window.
Mr. Edwards is a Certified Port Executive, Certified NIST Cybersecurity Lead Implementer and Certified NIST AI Risk Management Framework Architect. He chairs the Barbados Port Community System’s Technical and Cybersecurity committees and represents BPI on the Steering Committee for the Barbados Electronic Single Window for Trade. His expertise continues to drive digital transformation in Barbados’ maritime sector.
