Barbados Port Inc. has invested heavily in berth extension, the acquisition of new machinery and staff training, to better position Barbados as a homeporting hub. The Port of Bridgetown hosts an impressive fleet of homeporting vessels each year and offers a range of facilities and services to meet their needs.
As part of its homeporting arrangements, BPI accepts international wet/dry waste from cruise ships for disposal and as part of its cargo operations accepts discarded pallets and dunnage. This is in line with BPI’s commitments to preserving the oceans and ecosystem.
Each year, BPI and its strategic partners receive high satisfaction evaluation scores on its home porting operation.
Some of the services offered through our partners include:
- Meet and greet, check-in and dispatch services
- Baggage transfer to and from the Airport under Customs Seal
- Special assistance vehicles on request
- Security screening of guests and baggage prior to embarking the vessel
- Direct transfer to and from airport to seaport
BPI’s relationship with its partners facilitates seamless Customs and Immigration processing. This ensures passengers and luggage are moved quickly and efficiently between the airport and the seaport. While changes in flight schedules, bad weather and traffic congestion may sometimes present unforeseen challenges which can compromise the level of service we desire, designated port agency service providers ensure that an effective resolution is always swiftly reached.
Daily airlift from major source markets make getting in and out of the island convenient and hassle free. Barbados has so much to offer, it is well worth it to consider adding a few nights stay on land at the start or end of your cruise to complete your destination experience.
For residents on the island, it is just as easy to get on board a homeported ship for a round trip Barbados cruise.
