Mein Schiff 4 cruises into Barbados for the first time

The Barbados Port Inc. (BPI) has officially greeted the Captain and crew of German cruise ship Mein Schiff 4 at the Bridgetown Port last Friday during an inaugural ceremony onboard the vessel. It was the second time in a week that the BPI had welcomed a cruise ship on its maiden voyage; French cruise ship Le Soléal also docked at the Port in the same week, bringing hundreds of cruise ship passengers to our shores.

Lewis/Wickham Boardwalk in Bridgetown reopens

Barbados Port Inc. (BPI) today announced that the renovations to the Lewis/Wickham Boardwalk is completed, and that boat users and pedestrians can safely resume use of the waterway and walkway between the Chamberlain Lift Bridge and the traffic lights by Chefette Restaurant.

Barbados Port Inc. welcomes Le Soléal for inaugural call

The Barbados Port Inc. (BPI) yesterday welcomed French cruise ship Le Soléal to the Bridgetown Port for the first time at an official inaugural ceremony. The seven-deck ship, renowned for its expedition-style cruises, arrived in Barbados from Venezuela and has now set sail for Martinique; its last stop on its 17-day cruise.

Svitzer donates defibrillator to the Port

Barbados Port Inc. (BPI) on Monday received a donation to its onsite medical facility of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Lifepak Defibrillator from international tug operator Svitzer. The new AED machine will benefit both locals and BPI visitors in emergencies where it is necessary to resuscitate individuals who have stopped breathing or their heart has stopped.

Barbados Port Inc. to showcase Barbadian artists

Bridgetown – The Barbados Port Inc. (BPI) today hosted a Commissioning Ceremony for eight specially selected murals by Barbadian artists to be painted on the doors of the homeport terminal at Shed 3. The project coincides with this year’s 50th Anniversary of Independence and is designed to enhance the overall experience of cruise ship passengers as they officially enter and exit the island.

BPI Signs MOU With Ports Of Tenerife

Barbados Port Inc (BPI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ports of Tenerife, Spain on Wednesday August 17.

The MOU is a direct result of discussions which took place for the Barbados 50 Yacht Race. The Barbados 50 got underway in London on the 31st July, then proceeded to Falmouth. The vessels will then continue via Spain, the Canary Islands and the East Coast of Africa, before crossing the Atlantic to arrive in Barbados before November 30.

Partial Closure Of The Lewis/Wickham Boardwalk In Bridgetown

Barbados Port Inc. (BPI) today announced that a section of the Lewis/Wickham Boardwalk in Bridgetown will be closed for refurbishment from Monday, June 27, 2016, for a period of six to eight weeks, to allow contractors, PNC Construction and Equipment Rentals Inc., to do refurbishment work on a section of the boardwalk, between the lift bridge and the lights by Cheffette Restaurants.

Port Workers Trained In Port Handling Best Practices Receive Certificates and Helmets

Bridgetown- - Employees of Barbados Port Inc. (BPI) were awarded certificates and decal helmets during a presentation ceremony held at Solidarity House on Tuesday.

The 54 employees (20 dockers, 20 equipment operators, nine supervisors and five senior officers), who participated in a five-week training programme aimed at improving the operational skills of the workforce, received certificates in Stevedoring Foundation Skills Level I, Operations Level II and Assessment Level IV.

Royal Caribbean International's Newest And Most Innovative Ship, Anthem Of The Seas Makes Its Inaugural Visit To Barbados

Bridgetown, Nov. 16, 2015.  Royal Caribbean International's most innovative ship, Anthem of the Seas, made its inaugural call to the Bridgetown Port on Sunday. The Quantum-class ship, the newest in the impressive Royal Caribbean fleet is on a twelve-day cruise around the Caribbean. Barbados was her second stop since leaving her permanent home, Cape Liberty Cruise Port in New York on November 10.

AIDAdiva Sails Into Bridgetown Port For First Time

Sunday December 6, 2015. Carnival Corporations’ German cruise ship AIDAdiva sailed into the Bridgetown Port for the second time this season, turning over about 2000 passengers at its newest home port. 

The ship’s Austrian captain, Vincent Cofalka, welcomed an official party on board the luxury liner led by Hon. Richard Sealy, Minister of Tourism and International Transport.  Cofalka said that Barbados matched all the requirements Carnival looks for in a destination, and it was now part of the liner’s long-term plans.
