Bridgetown – The Barbados Port Inc. (BPI) yesterday hosted the official inaugural ceremony for the arrival of the Seven Seas Explorer at the Bridgetown Port. The luxury cruise ship and its crew were welcomed to Barbados by Hon. Richard Sealy, Minister for Tourism>
The cruise ship Norwegian Getaway made its inaugural call to the Bridgetown Port today, the third of sixteen inaugural ships expected this season. Officials of the Ministry of Tourism and International Transport, Barbados Port Inc., and shipping agents, Platinum Port Agency Inc. officially welcomed the new vessel, which was built just last year.
Manager of Terminal Operations, Ian Stewart has confirmed that the Berth 5 Extension Project is nearing completion, on time and on budget. This project will see a significant expansion in berthing space at the harbour and enable our port to provide a larger accommodation space for both cruise ships and cargo vessels.
While many were out socialising during the recent cricket and Crop Over seasons, Barbados Port Inc. (BPI) Community Outreach Committee was out working hard to make a difference to the underprivileged.
The MS Adriana cruise ship has made its first official appearance at the Bridgetown Port. With 89 passengers on board, the small 300-passenger cruise ship made its inaugural voyage to Barbados from Port of Spain, Trinidad, arriving on August 5.

Bridgetown, Barbados - With just one month to go before the official close of the local cruise season that started in November, Barbados Port Inc (BPI) is still receiving inaugural calls to the Port. BPI expects as much as 387calls bringing an average of 1937 visitors per call, to the island this year.
